Bihar CM Samrat Choudhary Calls for Compulsory Computer Education in All Government Schools

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has directed the Education Department to prepare a plan to make computer education compulsory in all government schools from next year.

The direction was given during a Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM) at Government Middle School, Ramjichak, under Danapur in Patna district. During the visit, the Chief Minister interacted with students, parents and teachers and reviewed teaching arrangements, student attendance, examination results and school facilities.

Computer Education to Be Made Compulsory

According to reports, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary asked education officials to prepare a plan for providing compulsory computer education in government schools from the next academic year.

The move is aimed at connecting students with modern technology and strengthening their exposure to digital learning. The Chief Minister also suggested that one computer instructor could be arranged for every two to three schools so that students can receive computer education on a regular basis.

The direction comes as Bihar continues to focus on modernising school education and providing students with access to technology-based learning.

Focus on Modern Facilities in Government Schools

During the PTM, the Chief Minister asked officials to strengthen the academic environment and provide modern facilities in government schools. He said schools should provide an environment that helps students prepare effectively for their future studies and competitive examinations.

He reviewed the available facilities and discussed teaching-learning arrangements, student attendance and examination results with teachers and school officials.

Digital Learning and Online Classes

The Chief Minister also highlighted the use of digital learning facilities in Bihar. According to the report, online teachers and live classes have already been provided at model schools at around 700 locations across the state.

The proposed expansion of computer education is expected to give students greater regular access to computer-based learning and modern technology.

Importance of Computer Education for Students

Computer knowledge has become an important part of education and professional life. Basic digital skills can help students understand computers, online learning platforms, digital communication and other technology-based tools.

Making computer education more accessible in government schools could provide students with structured opportunities to develop these skills as part of their education.

Parent-Teacher Meetings and Academic Improvement

The Chief Minister also emphasised the importance of regular parent-teacher meetings. Such meetings can help schools and parents discuss students' academic progress, attendance and areas where additional support may be required.

He said the objective of these interactions is to improve the quality of education, ensure teacher availability and work towards full student attendance while expanding school facilities according to requirements.

Students Encouraged to Focus on Studies

During his interaction with students, the Chief Minister encouraged them to attend school regularly, study with concentration and work consistently towards their academic goals.

He also advised students to avoid unnecessary use of mobile phones and to use digital devices appropriately for educational purposes when required.

The Role of Technology in Bihar's Education System

The proposed compulsory computer education plan reflects the growing importance of digital learning in school education. With technology increasingly becoming part of higher education, employment and everyday life, access to computer education can help students develop foundational digital skills.

The Education Department is expected to work on the plan for implementing compulsory computer education in government schools from next year, including arrangements for computer instructors and regular access to computer learning.

The development will be closely watched by students, parents, teachers and education stakeholders across Bihar as the state works towards expanding technology-based education in government schools.
